Do you know the correct installation method for joint bearings?

To achieve the maximum service life of spherical plain bearings and rod end spherical plain bearings without premature failure, it is necessary to pay attention to techniques and maintain cleanliness during installation. Before installing bearings and rod end spherical plain bearings, it is necessary to ensure that the spherical plain bearings and rod end spherical plain bearings achieve maximum service life without premature failure. During installation, it is necessary to pay attention to skills and maintain cleanliness. Bearings and rod end spherical plain bearings should be taken out of the packaging just before installation to avoid contamination. Bearing components that may be contaminated due to improper handling or damaged packaging should be wiped with a clean cloth. The sliding contact surfaces of spherical sliding bearings must be matched to ensure good friction and wear characteristics. Therefore, any change in the sliding contact surface can shorten the service life of the bearing.








The above changes also include cleaning the sliding contact surface or exposing it to solvents, detergents, oil, or similar media. All relevant components should be kept clean and free of any burrs. At the same time, it is important to check whether the dimensions of the relevant components are accurate before the installation procedure begins.








Radial spherical plain bearing







When installing spherical plain bearings with cracked or split outer rings, pay attention to the position of the joint at a 90 ° angle to the direction of the load (Figure 1), otherwise the service life will be shortened.




Do not remove the steel or plastic fastening tape used to secure the outer ring of the spherical plain bearing prior to installation. The fastening strap is located inside the circular groove and does not protrude from the outer surface of the bearing. The outer ring of a spherical plain bearing that is axially split and fixed with bolts must be installed in this manner and the bolts must not be loosened.

The following tools are suitable for installing spherical plain bearings:








Install an impact ring (Figure 2) or a section of pipe material; In general, the impact ring should be installed with a interference fit first




An impact ring with two shoulder surfaces (Figure 3) for simultaneously installing bearings onto the shaft and bearing housing




If the number of bearings is large, appropriate tools can be used in conjunction with a press (Figure 4)



When installing spherical plain bearings, consider the following:




Do not use a hammer or sharp punch to push the bearing into position, as either method can damage the bearing ring (Figure 5).




The installation force must not be transmitted through sliding contact surfaces (Figure 6). This can damage the sliding contact surface and/or expand the cracked or split bearing outer race, resulting in the need for greater installation force.

杆端关节轴承



杆端关节轴与球面滑动轴承一样配备了销和轴。 稍稍加热可以减少所需的安装力,并降低损坏相关部件的风险。



在将杆端关节轴承固定到螺纹杆或延长管(图 9)上时,应在杆或者杆端关节轴承的外螺纹上使用埋头锁定螺母。 应紧靠杆端关节轴承或管的挡肩表面紧固埋头锁定螺母。

The fluorine released by decomposition, even in small amounts, is extremely dangerous and can cause serious harm. It should also be noted that once the material overheats, even if it is processed after cooling, it is still very dangerous.


Wear heat resistant gloves when handling hot parts.
